Welcome to Coombabah State School.

Our school currently supports the learning of students from Paradise Point, Hollywell, Runaway Bay, Coombabah and Hope Island. We also have a small number of enrolments from other neighbouring suburbs. We currently have an Enrolment Management Plan and our enrolments generally sit around the 715 students. This makes us one of the smaller schools in the northern end of the coast.

I am very proud of our achievements over the past years and as we move into the future we will continue to focus and build on our core learning priorities and in turn – help our students achieve to the best of their ability.

I would encourage you to take advantage of everything that the school has to offer and add constructively to our professional and friendly team. Please actively communicate with your child's teacher as this helps demonstrate to your child the importance of an effective partnership between home and school.

School priorities for this year include the following:

·         Writing
·         Literacy and numeracy intervention (whole school guided reading)
·         Parent and community engagement
·         Goal setting for students in core learning areas

Each morning our school hosts a short assembly for the various year levels. This assembly is a very important part of our school culture and is often well attended by parents as well as all the students.

Our Administration team consists of a Principal and 2 Deputy Principals. We pride ourselves and our school on addressing the needs of all students. To do this we rely on a number of other staff to provide effective support to students, parents, our teachers and staff.

I am looking forward to continuing to lead our school forward throughout the year and I am confident that with effective communication and a focus on each child's needs we will meet their personal learning journey.

Our motto is "Strive to Achieve" and for our school "Achieve" means the following

Attendance - Every child matters. Every day counts. Being punctual is important.

Challenging students through the curriculum - Experienced classroom and specialist teachers who provide engaging, inclusive and stimulating programs across all curriculum areas.

Habits that promote well being - A caring and respectful environment that supports students' social, spiritual, mental, emotional and physical well-being.

Inclusion - Personal learning targets for every student. We will work together to develop your child to the best of their ability.

Encouraging students to reach their potential - An inclusive school which delivers a rigorous curriculum through the use of modern technologies and strategies. Learning is differentiated according to student needs.

Variety of classroom practices - Cater to children's individual learning styles and regularly review strategies and delivery of the curriculum.

Effective engagement of students, staff and the community - Our professional staff with help from the community will provide an exciting, engaging and inclusive school experience for your child. We provide a bridge for your child from home to our community.

We expect our students to attend and be on time every day. Please encourage your child to share their work with you and ask them about their learning each day at school.
