Supporting successful transitions

Supporting successful transitions
Starting school is an exciting and significant time in every child’s life. A positive start to school can lead to children developing a lifelong love of learning. Transition to school begins well before a child starts school and ends when your child feels safe, secure and a sense of belonging at school.

Children must be 5 by 30 June in the year they start Prep. Children born between 1st July 2018 and 30th June 2019 are eligible for Prep 2024.
Enrolments are open now for 2024
Collect an enrolment package from administration at

164-172 Oxley Drive Coombabah or phone 55 013 888 for more information.

Transition Program
The Coombabah State School Prep Transition Program involves a range of experiences that will help your child gain the skills and confidence they need to adjust to the school environment.

The transition program incorporates a Principal’s Tour, Prep Open Morning, Prep and Kindy Carnival and a student orientation morning. Local early childhood education centres may visit with their students to participate in library book reading, book borrowing and in the gross motor program.

Early years transition coordinators visit local early learning centres in the surrounding area to get to know students and families. This helps students to transition seamlessly into our school community.

Playgroup
To support transitions to school, we also have a free playgroup for 0-5 years on Wednesday mornings
9:30 – 10:30am.
This gives children a chance to become familiar with our school.

Please see the flyer for more information.
